    the wood filler is a golden oak color. it stains up rather nicely with the colonial maple stain color so it is very dificult to see the filled cracks after it dries. I fill in the areas where the router or dremel cut thru the glue seam. sometimes this can chip out some wood that is rather noticable if left alone. the woodfiller corrects this. I also hear bondo works on large pieces if you intend on painting it. ( bondo does not blend in with the wood color very well)

    V-tools work well to outline the shape your going for…I mostly carve with power tools so I just plow right in with a square (90 degree) bit in my flex shaft /dremel tool. I have several dremel tools set up with several differant sized bits when Im working. So I dont have to change bits as often. The router helps make short work by setting the background..but you dont have to rely on it exclusively.
